A fundraiser for the “Afghan Women’s Fund”
Dear Friends,
The Quaker Market (QM) and Peace and Social Concerns (P&SC) Committees are co-hosting a special fundraiser for the Afghan Women’s Fund (AWF). The Potluck fundraiser will feature special guest, Fahima Gaheez, Director of AWF, who will share her insights and experience gained in her decades of work supporting the needs of Afghan people. Annapolis Friends Meeting (AFM) has partnered for twenty years with AWF to help with efforts to provide water wells for clean water, to establish medical clinics, and to provide education for women and girls. The potluck will also include the culinary creations of the Afghan cooking class being held for AFM Friends on the preceding day, Saturday, March 18. The informational potluck where the Afghan delicacies will be served is open to all on Sunday, March 19, starting at approximately 12:45 pm. You are invited to bring a dish to supplement the Afghan food prepared during the cooking class, if you feel so led, but you will not need to bring food because we always have more than enough to share!
We look forward to a brief presentation by AWF friend, Fahima, toward the end of the potluck. With her ongoing contacts and work in Afghanistan, Fahima is uniquely positioned to update us on the situation on the ground in Afghanistan.
Free-will donations (cash or check) will be welcomed over the weekend, or by April 2 (checks made out to AWF may be mailed to the attention of Cairn K., Annapolis Friends Meeting, 351 Dubois Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401).
Please contact Cairn K. with any questions at market@annapolisfriends.org
Hope to see you at the potluck lunch on March 19!
Peace,
Cairn and Phil for QM and P&SC Committees
