“How to leverage psychology to impact climate change?” A talk by Tammy Mayer

Friends who are interested in climate change are invited to watch this presentation on “YouTube” by Tammy Mayer, Founder of One Climate Action. The talk was part of a symposium sponsored by Grantham Insitute. Tammy’s mother is Ellen M., a member of the Annapolis Friends Meeting.

About the presentation: “This Changing Planet seminar provides practical guidance for initiating conversations around climate change. Tammy Mayer provides a model for dialogues that influence and engage people in supporting climate solutions. This model is easy to implement and based on psychological research on climate communications. The seminar covers the reasons why it is important to talk about climate change in the context of solutions, and why the psychology of communications is important. This work is inspired in part by the advice of climate scientist, Katharine Hayhoe, who wrote the groundbreaking book, Saving Us.

About the speaker: Tammy brings her passion for community-building and resolving climate change forward to One Climate Action, an organization that offers training for people ready to make an impact on climate change. One Climate Action’s training programs make it easy to take climate actions, be that leading a delicate conversation with a friend, persuading upper management to take action, or learning to get involved politically. The programme aims to reduce climate anxiety and guilt by focusing on easy-to-access and tailor-made solutions. Tammy has been a teacher and trainer for over ten years and has been involved in nonprofit community development for over fifteen. Her background includes director of programs for a policy advocacy nonprofit, strategic communications manager for a renewable energy public policy network, finance manager for a housing nonprofit, and university professor teaching nonprofit strategic planning and management.”

About the sponsor: The Grantham Institute sits at the heart of Imperial College London’work on climate change and the environment. We drive forward discovery, convert innovations into applications, train future leaders and communicate academic knowledge to businesses, industry and policymakers to help shape their decisions.

    • Thank you Marjorie! Those ripples are what I’m excited about! It’s like blowing a dandelion in the wind, spreading seeds of inspiration for others to grow in their own gardens.
