Join the International Quaker Meeting!

On August 5 through 12, come to the meetinghouse to gather with Friends in South Africa and all around the world for worship, business meetings, workshops and a talent show.

Everyone is welcome to join Annapolis Friends Meeting and the activities from South Africa on August 5 through 12, 2024 when Annapolis Friends Meeting will be a “hub” for the region and will host the Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) World Plenary Meeting (WPM) from the meetinghouse. A hub is a place where three or more people join the event through a single internet connection.

The FWCC World Plenary Meeting is a meeting for representatives from all four FWCC Sections to undertake FWCC business, surrounded by worship and fellowship with Friends from around the world. This year the WPM will take place in South Africa and, for the first time, some of the meetings will be livestreamed. All of the meetings will be in English. The four sections are Africa, Americas, Asia West Pacific, and Europe & Middle East.

On Sunday (08.11) at 4:30 am, there will be an especially interesting time because there will be a big international act of worship, hosted by the Africa Section.

The 2024 WPM theme is “Living the Spirit of Ubuntu: Responding with hope to God’s call to cherish creation and one another” that includes a STUDY GUIDE that can be downloaded in advance of the meetings. In addition, there is a helpful POSTER to envision the theme.

Please join us at the meetinghouse to experience this extraordinary event. The schedule is available below.
