We invite you to join us in community for our upcoming QEW Fall Gathering 2026, happening October 15–17. We are excited to offer Friends the opportunity to join us online for worship, business meeting, keynote sessions, and a chance to deepen our connection to Earthcare and each other. Together, Friends online and in person, will gather around the theme, “The Fires that Renew.”
The world we face today can often feel consumed by destructive forces – from literal wildfires intensified by climate change to the metaphorical firestorms of global and political conflicts. Yet, nature offers us a different model. Just as prairies have adapted to reset, endure, and grow back stronger from deep seeds and roots after a fire, we too are called to look for models of resilience and fill our seed bank with hope. Together, we will tend to that inward fire – the fire of the Spirit that burns and creates without consuming.

Sikowis Nobiss (she/her) is Plains Cree/Saulteaux of the George Gordon First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. At 19 she began her life’s work of uplifting Indigenous rights and voices when she got her first job at the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council in Fredericton, Canada during the Burnt Church Rebellion. In 2016 she joined the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline and continued to build afterwards across Iowa. This led her to co-found Little Creek Camp in February 2017, which transformed into Indigenous Iowa (later renamed Great Plains Action Society). From 2017 to 2020, she helped found a national Indigenous-focused organization from the ground up. Her heart is with her people and the prairies.
