Dear Friends,
There’s a meeting for Sacred Chant & Dance in the multipurpose room (or the patio outside, weather-permitting) on Sunday, June 9 at 9:30 –10:45 a.m. Come join us!
Newcomers and “regulars” are all very welcome! And here is what we do sometimes may look like:
“Gathering Here in the Mystery of this Hour,” we remember that “We are Born of the Stars and the Earth” and yearn to see through “Compassionate Eyes.”
Then, as we walk in the circle to a drumbeat, we gratefully sing “Earth is our Mother” who needs our love and protection. So, turning to that beloved Christian prayer, attributed to Jesus and gently paraphrased, we use Qigong movements to align our body, mind and spirit with those ancient words spoken by so many.
Now we are ready to “Wade in the Water,” knowing that “God’s gonna trouble the water” and, as the late Congressman John Lewis said, “When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just: you have to stand up, speak up, speak out, and find a way to get in the way and get in trouble. Good trouble. Necessary trouble.”
We end with the “Peace Song.”
We are always open to requests for your favorite chant/dances or suggestions for new ones.
Any questions? Please contact Sylvia O. or ask someone who is a “regular”!
Peace,
Sylvia
