Trees, Branches and Limbs Fell

The storm that came through Annapolis on the evening of June 12, had tornado-force winds that whipped and tore through many trees causing tree and property damage.

At Annapolis Friends, there were approximately six large whole trees that were either blown over with roots exposed or snapped about 15-feet above the ground. In addition, there were too many to count of the large limbs that landed on the grounds. Driving into Dubois Road from North Bestgate there was a large tree across the road and pulling on power lines. Approaching the AFM property, a large uprooted oak tree was lying across Dubois Road and had broken through the AFM fence. Coming into the AFM driveway, one could see about eight of the solar panels uplifted from their frame and one lying on the lawn. None of the panels were broken and the Solar Array #1 (Tesla array) was fully intact. Only, Solar Array #2 (the Bob Bruninga array) was damaged.

At the back of the meetinghouse, a large tree was uprooted and had fallen onto the back portion of the roof, tearing off about 10-feet of rain gutter and several roof tiles.

Friends started showing up at the property around 9 am and started to cut and stack limbs to get the tree out of the road and to remove some of the tree that had hit the building. The Meeting is very grateful for the volunteer helpers.

The plan for Firstday (June 14) is to allow Friends to choose what they will do. The parking lot, building and patio remain safe to occupy. Please stay away from the Memorial Garden and the playground area for your own safety due to the potential for falling limbs

If power is restored, all will be well inside the building. If the power remains off, the air conditioning and water pump will be non-functional.

We weathered the storm and have minimal damage to the building and property.

Feeling Blessed!
