Meeting for Worship with Attention to Business

On November 7, 2021 from 9:00 am until 10:45 am Annapolis Friends meeting will conduct the monthly Meeting for Worship (MfW) with Attention to Business (wAtB) on Zoom. The MfW wAtB is  conducted out of the silence, like the Meeting for Worship; however, the Business Meeting is when Quakers meet to carry out the Meeting’s business. Decisions that come out of Business Meeting are thought to be divinely inspired. All are welcome to attend and to participate.
For more information, please contact Martha B. at clerk@annapolisfriends.org.

Book Discussion:  “Buoyant: What Held Us Up When Our Bodies Let Us Down”

On November 8, 2021 (Monday) from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm the Annapolis Friends Pastoral Care Committee is sponsoring an online discussion around Dotty Holcomb Doherty’s new book, “Buoyant: What Held Us Up When Our Bodies Let Us Down” – a reflection and examination of two women living fully in the midst of uncertain health and pending death. For this Zoom event, we will engage with Dotty in an ongoing contemplation of these challenges whether through disease or aging. How do we live most truthfully and deeply, with self-awareness and self-compassion, when our health and abilities decline?
For more information, please contact Barb T. at pastoral-care@annapolisfriends.org.

AFM Holiday Sharing

This year, Annapolis Friends Meeting will be supporting three families that were recommended by our County. A fourth family will also be supported and selected by the Light House, a homeless prevention center located in Annapolis. Last year, AFM accomplished our goals for three families with about $1,050. This year, we anticipate that it will take about $1,500 to cover the four families. Please make your pledge as soon as possible by clicking on this link: https://forms.gle/FyKgkoL9rvvdBPYbA

With the pledges available for the Holiday Sharing Committee to review, the committee can begin to create the budget and be more efficient with shopping for the families. It is requested that the pledged funds be provided by November 15, 2021 by either mailing the funds to AFM or dropping it off at the AFM meetinghouse.

For more information, contact Phil C., Terry D., or Denise F. at social-concerns@annapolisfriends.org

Qi and Grace: An Embodied Lord’s Prayer

In place of the Wednesday Meditation on November 17, 2021 (Wednesday) from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, there will be a special online program called: Qi and Grace: An Embodied Lord’s Prayer. Spiritual Friends Group. Note: This is a one-time offering in the place of the regularly-held Wednesday Evening Meditation Group, and it is for this date only.

Qigong is an ancient Taoist shamanic healing practice based in Chinese Medicine. It is designed to center, integrate and harmonize the Body, Mind, and Spirit. This program is a special opportunity to learn from Kaleo Ching and his wife Elise, who for 32 years have been writing and teaching Qigong, meditation, and shamanic practices for educational institutions, spiritual communities, incarcerated populations, and other venues nationally and internationally.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm on every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
