Your input requested

Please complete the survey from the Ad-hoc Committee on Aiding Afghan Refugees by January 28th so we can learn more about the level and kinds of support there may be within our community for helping an Afghan family resettle in the area. There are many different ways Friends can contribute to this effort, from one time in-kind donations to limited time financial support or ongoing guidance and friendship. We envision a variety of people from the Meeting community helping as they are led. Your responses will help us better assess our capacity to be co-sponsors.

Proposal for Helping to Resettle Afghan Families

The ad hoc Committee on Afghan Resettlement will meet on February 1 at 7:30 PM on Zoom to further consider a proposal for support of Afghan family refugees. The threshing session will consider the results from the recent survey, responses to questions from Lutheran Social Services, the level of support we think we can provide for a family, and identifying point people for various tasks. Other congregations interested in working with us on resettling a family have been invited. All are welcome.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

Every Thursday from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and reinforces that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During this time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
