Quakerism – Learn More

There is an opportunity presented by the Patapsco Friends Meeting who is hosting a series of discussions about Quakerism. They would like to invite you to join them on the next third Tuesday (April 19) at 7pm on Zoom. There is a flyer introducing the schedule.

The format is simple. They will view a short QuakerSpeak video after a period of silence. Then the group will offer a few queries and open up small breakout rooms to hear how Friends respond to the video. And finally they will rejoin the virtual discussion to hear what experiences and reflections Friends are led to share. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting on zoom.

A Quaker Filmmaker – Martin Krafft

On April 24th 9:15 am during Meeting for Learning on Zoom, itinerant Friend, Martin Krafft, will be discussing the process of making the documentary film, “Terminal”, and the relation between filmmaking and Quaker practice. The film explores his friend Rachel’s experience with a terminal cancer diagnosis, as well as Rachel’s complex existence in the world. “Terminal” considers, too, the difficulties that arise in trying to provide support for a friend in need. Here is a trailer for the film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyBSwUhVRHM&feature=youtu.be.

Friends Writing Together

All are invited to the Friends Writing Together held on the 4th Sunday (April 24th) at 12:30 pm. We write from prompts. The facilitator will provide a brief suggestion intended to elicit images, stories, and thoughts, which only you know, to which only you can give voice. Sharing aloud is optional. We do not critique this fresh writing, but offer what touched us. Everyone has stories—the prompts simply help guide us toward them. No experience necessary; all ages welcome. Bringing your lunch is optional.

Friendly 8s – Get to know folks

The Pastoral Care committee is in the process of organizing a few Friendly 8s groups and you are encouraged to let them know if you are interested. 5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
