Afghan Refugees
AFM and our neighbors, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA) are sponsoring an Agahan family!! The family found an apartment in Silver Spring near the White Oak Shopping Center with a tentative move-in date of June 4th. Our Unitarian friends will be handling the moving of housewares and furniture, but would appreciate some strong AFM assistance. Volunteers are needed for the health, children and school, and housing subcommittees. Jo Anne S. will be sending additional information on the AFM-Announce email list.
Donate new or used cell phones and computers for Afghan refugees. There is a box at the meetinghouse where you can drop them off.

Worship Sharing
On May 29, 2022 at 9:15am, there will be a Worship Sharing at the meetinghouse and on Zoom.
Worship Sharing is a process that is a direct form of worship-based conversation that incorporates silence as the foundation and alignment with the Light. The worship sharing group sits in silence to contemplate specific queries to focus on for deeper reflection. The participants take a turn to say how s/he feels about the issue and are urged to avoid cross-talk and to listen deeply to each speaker. There are pauses between speakers to give everyone a chance to deeply attend again in the power of the silence.
For May 29, 2022, the AFM Outreach Committee will be focusing on two of the branches on the image of The Tree of Contemplative Process: the Stillness Branch and the Generative Branch.
The following queries will be for contemplation:
- What is your experience of a Divine Presence?
- What are the methods you have tried to connect and how successful were they?
- Do you start with a question or concern in mind?
- Do you focus on your breath?
Please join us for a celebration of the diverse ways we try to connect with the Divine.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening
From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
