Friends Writing Together

At 12:30pm on Sunday, August 22nd, Friends Writing Together allows us to indulge our creative selves and let words pour from our deepest places. What arrives may be a funny or poignant memory, a work of fiction, new lyrics or a poem, often surprising us with where we have been led. During the gathering, writing prompts are offered which begin the flow, and we write for 8 minutes. We then have the option to share our writing with the other participants, who offer not critique, but what moved them. We are a warm, welcoming group, so if you would like to put pen to paper or fingertips to keyboard, join us.

For more information, contact Dotty D. at info@annapolisfriends.org.

Meeting for Worship – Blended

On September 5th (Sunday) at 11:00 pm, the fourth blended Meeting for Worship (MfW) will be held with attendees in-person inside the meetinghouse and other attendees joining worship using Zoom. If attending in-person, masks are required. No registration is needed. Windows will be open for ventilation. MfW will not be held outside.

When in attendance in the Multipurpose Room (MPR) and have a message, joy or announcement to give, please stand, speak loudly, and face the Owl in the center of the room where the microphones are located. If you feel comfortable, sStep towards the Owl. These efforts will help those on Zoom to hear what is being said in the MPR.

The Path Forward (PF) and Meetinghouse & Land (MH&L) committees have been diligent with regards to protocols and participants seemed delighted to have options for worship, including in-person and out of the heat. The plan is to have blended MfW on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. The Meeting for Worship (MfW) with Attention to Business (wAtB) to be held on September 5th will determine future options.

For more information, contact Karen C. at clerk@annapolisfriends.org.

On August 28th (Saturday) at 10:30 am, the Weekend Spiritual Friendship / Community Group will be meeting in-person at the meetinghouse. The Weekend Spiritual Friendship / Community Group will be meeting monthly on Saturdays. The group is mainly meant as a way to build community, spiritual support, and share our spiritual journeys and questions about spirituality. This group is open to anyone affiliated with Annapolis Friends Meeting.  While planned as a “hybrid – blended” meeting where some people will meet in-person outside on the Meetinghouse patio and others will be joining via zoom, due to technical difficulties the group is only meeting in person. Please look for updates for those who want to participate via zoom in the next few months.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm on every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
