Committee Candidates (that would be YOU!)

The AFM Committees are looking for members to join in the fellowship and, at the same time, get things done. It is a great time to meet people and share in the livelihood of the meeting. To start, you can review the online list of committees and click on the titles to go to a more descriptive page that will detail what each committee works on. This is a wonderful way to enjoy each other’s company, talents, skills and personalities. Let’s energize committees, fill positions on the various committees and bring Spirit-led Friends into the work of the community. Resource: Committee List

Fall Gathering

On October 9, 2022 (Sunday) from 9:15 am until 10:45 am, there will be an in-person celebration at the meetinghouse that will include breakfast for both the attendees at the 8 am MfW and the 11 MfW. This event is sponsored by the Outreach and Pastoral Care committees and is intended to be a time to reconnect with those we might have not had an opportunity to gather otherwise. There will be hot and cold beverages, muffins, donuts, and fruit available.  For anyone interested, we will have tours of the meeting house, the library and the grounds.  We are looking forward to the warmth and connectedness of an in-person gathering.  Hoping to see you there.

MfL: Friendly Bible Study

On October 19 (Sunday), the Education Committee will present a Meeting for Learning (MfL) called: A Friendly Bible Study. Among Friends today there is a wide range of views of the Bible, from those who see it as an interesting historical document to those who see it as God’s Word. An increasing number of Friends feel the need for study of the Bible. They seek an effective study method which reflects Quaker values and tradition and draws them to the core of the Bible message.

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
