Communications Committee

The Communications Committee manages the Annapolis Friends Meeting website. Our goal is to use online communication to build and maintain a strong community. Meeting recognizes that it takes a whole community to listen and speak to one another in an inclusive spirit. The website is one of the tools for accomplishing that goal. The community includes members, attenders, committees, officers, seekers, newcomers and other people who are interested in the work of the Meeting. The Communications Committee coordinates the Meeting’s efforts by compiling relevant, accurate information. On an ongoing basis, the committee seeks to evaluate and improve our means for effectively sharing our information. Check out the Communications Committee webpage.

Racial Reconciliation Collaborative Planning Committee

On October 26 (Wednesday) at 7 pm, the Racial Reconciliation Collaborative (RRC) Planning Committee is happy to announce our next banner project meeting, which AFM members & attenders have participated in. The event will be held in the Great Hall at St. Philip’s. Based on the results of the survey, and on the views shared by many of you at the August meeting, we have now narrowed our banner designs down to three. These three designs have gone through many revisions, and all that remains now is for our wider group to vote on the design we would most like to see represent us on the RRC banner.

MfL: Friendly Bible Study

On October 23 at 9:15 am there will be a sample Friendly Bible Study session on Zoom, facilitated by Pat Schenck.  Then, if there is interest, the group will continue for six sessions at a time other than Sunday morning.

If you are interested, let Pat know by October 19 at pat.schenck3227@gmail.com, so that she will know whether break-out groups will be required.  She will create a listserv of people who have registered to send any further information.

Many people find this model of Bible study very satisfying, whether they are “Bible people” or not.  However, it is not for everyone. Please read the description at https://www.read-the-bible.org/friendlybiblestudy.htm.

When Pat led a group at Friends House, one woman said, “I have attended Bible study many times, but this one is about your life!”

5th Night Light – Every Thursday evening

From 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm every Thursday, the AFM community engages in a spiritual practice that acknowledges the Light of God within each person and that to be in community is to actively care for one another. During that time, Friends hold people and situations who need additional spiritual support in the Light. Friends will pause wherever they may be, read the list of names, and hold each person or situation in our hearts and in the Light. On Wednesday, the list of names or situations are sent out to the AFM-Announce list.
