Message from the Ad-Hoc Afghan Refugee Resettlement Committee

Many thanks for the Meeting's support for our minute on housing for our Afghan family and your generous financial support. The good news is that the family's application for an apartment was accepted and they will be moving in early June. They will be living in the White Oak/Silver Spring area. Once they are settled, we will host an event to welcome them so the Meeting Community will get a chance to meet them soon.

We are  looking for a few more drivers willing to travel to the White Oak/Silver area (outside the Beltway near Route 29) to join the transportation committee. If interested, please contact info@annapolisfriends.org and specify transportation in the subject line.

We are also looking for more people for the children/school committee and health committees. Children/school helps sign up the children for school, locate camps and day care, and develops social outings including the children in our family and Meeting children. Health helps them find medical care, addresses questions on the U.S. health care system and accompanies them to medical visits if needed. If you would like to be on these committees, joanneschneider77@gmail.com.
